A COLLABORATIVE POST
WRITTEN BY BOOM BOX POST
Our spring intern Eli Bahner is finishing up his time with us here at Boom Box. It’s been a pleasure working with Eli this spring and we’re excited for what the future holds for him in the sound industry! We took a moment to sit down with Eli for a quick Q&A to hear his thoughts on his internship with us.
1. Apart from the sound work itself, what was your favorite part about interning for BBP this spring?
Outside of the sound work, my favorite part about the BBP internship was interacting with the other BBP employees. Everyone was incredibly warm and welcoming. I could not think of a better group of people to eat lunch with everyday.
2. Which intern lesson did you find the most challenging?
I found the dialogue lesson to be the most challenging. BBP’s dialogue editor has ears like no other. They are able to notice the smallest of details within a piece of dialogue. It definitely took some effort from me to start to notice the little things as well.
3. Which lesson was the most fun?
I had the most fun on the two final projects. Aside from being able to pick whatever I wanted to work on, the final projects really showed me how far I've come since arriving at BBP.
4. What did you feel you gained the most from the internship at BBP?
The BBP internship has increased my editing speed by a lot. I tried to shadow the other editors as much as possible, and in doing so I was able to absorb some of their workflow and learn some new shortcuts. This allowed me to focus more on the creative aspect of my work rather than just getting it done on time.
5. Do you plan to continue exploring a career in the sound industry?
I would love to continue persuing a career in sound. I am in the process of looking for work, but it would be a dream to get hired as a SFX editor.
6. What advice would you give the next intern?
One piece of advice that I would give to the next intern is to shadow the other editors as much as you possibly can. They are incredibly talented, and there is so much you can learn from simply watching them edit.
A big thank you to Eli for interning with us this spring! If you’re a current student seeking an internship, feel free to reach out to us at studio@boomboxpost.com to learn about our internship.
