A COLLABORATIVE POST
WRITTEN BY BOOM BOX POST

Meet Boom Box Post’s newest intern, Eli Bahner! To learn a bit more about Eli, we sat down with him for a quick Q&A. Here’s what he had to tell us!

What sparked your interest in sound for Television/Film?

I saw a YouTube video by WIRED about foley and quickly became obsessed with becoming a foley artist. This led to me going to college to pursue an education/career in post production audio.

How did you find out about the Boom Box Post INTernship?

I was researching the post production teams behind my favorite TV shows and movies. I found Boom Box Post through the show Invincible, and sent them a cold email. They responded saying that they were currently doing interviews for an internship.

WHICH LESSON ARE YOU LOOKING forward to THE MOST?

I am most excited for the pre-dubbing lesson. In my experience I have had the most fun mixing. I am excited to learn new skills from professional mixers.

What was your favorite animated movie or television series as a child?

As a child, I was obsessed with The Simpsons. I remember my brothers often getting upset at me for rewatching episodes over and over again while waiting for the newest seasons to release.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT SOUND FOR ANIMATION?

I think sound for animation is most interesting because you are not restricted by any sense of realism. Animators and sound designers alike can display boundless creativity in their work.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE SHOW THAT BOOM BOX HAS WORKED ON?

I am a huge fan of Invincible. In addition to the phenomenal sound design and mixing, Invincible brings a sense of realism to the table that is not often seen is superhero narratives. It feels less like a traditional comic book story and more like an exploration of what powers would actually do to people. If you haven't seen it already, go watch it!

WHAT IS THE LAST MOVIE THAT IMPRESSED YOU WITH SOUND?

I recently rewatched Sinners and was impressed by some of their transitions. In some instances they blend audio from one scene into the next which I thought was pretty interesting.

Thank you Eli!
