A COLLABORATIVE POST
WRITTEN BY BOOM BOX POST

We have a new Assistant Editor at Boom Box Post! It is our pleasure to introduce you to Mia Perfetti!

When did you realize you wanted to pursue a career in audio post production?

I started audio production in high school when I joined the theater club. I assembled sound effects and music for the school’s productions. I was quite interested in audio in television but not production, so in college, I switched over to audio post production and found a niche in that.

What Grabbed your interest in sound for animated TV series?

As a nanny for over seven years, I have watched my fair share of children’s animated TV shows. Between the catchy songs and simplicity of the storytelling, it wasn’t a hard decision to combine my love for children, catchy tunes, and animation.

So far, what is something new you have learned from this position?

The most helpful thing I have learned is the general workflow between the individual editing departments (SFX, Dialogue, and Foley), predubs, and re-recording mixers and how it all comes together. I also am enjoying learning Pro Tools key commands, and having lists and spreadsheets to help me stay organized.

What is your favorite animated TV show or movie?

My favorite animated TV series are Daria and The Wild Thornberrys and my favorite animated movie is The Emperor’s New Groove. However when nannying, my favorite animated series is Super Kitties. MEOW!

What was the last show you binge watched?

As an avid It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia fan, I have been watching seasons 1-15 (on repeat) in preparation for season 16 which comes out in June!

If you had to describe yourself as a sound effect, what would it be?

My sound effect self would be a nice healthy knife slice. I am sharp and confident however, I have moments of dullness and resharpening too. Plus who doesn’t love the sound of things being sliced and diced.
