A COLLABORATIVE POST
WRITTEN BY BOOM BOX POST

It’s finally the day all of us at Boom Box Post have been waiting for–the relaunch of our internship program! However, there is a twist! Our internship has now transformed into an apprenticeship. We couldn’t be more excited to introduce our first apprentice post-pandemic, Kylina Aliotti!

What grabbed your interest in sound for Television & Film?

As I learned about film and television production in school, it became very clear to me that I did not find the camera's job as fascinating as the role of sound in a project. The complexity of it all is really what I love. I like that sound can both follow and break the rules of reality to achieve a specific effect elevating a moment almost instantly.

How did you find out about the apprenticeship?

Through Sound Girls, which I am a proud member of and have had the chance to do so many cool things because of them.

Do you have any cool work experience within sound prior to this apprenticeship that you would like to highlight?

I recorded ADR for a feature film once. It was pretty cool to work in a professional studio and also cutting the tracks with people watching me was a new challenge.

What do you hope to get out of this apprenticeship?

I am hoping to improve my knowledge about everything from a typical day in the life of a sound editor to specific pro tools tips and tricks.

What has been your favorite part about this apprenticeship so far?

That everyone is as nice as you could wish. I have sat in on a few editors and watched them work already and I can’t wait to sit and talk to more.

Do you have a favorite sound moment from a movie or TV show?

I don’t think I have one favorite SFX or sound. But, I really like learning about traditional foley and the weird objects they use to make different sounds. Such as using celery to simulate the sound of breaking bones.

If you could only watch one TV show for the rest of your life, what would you watch?

Parks and Recs!

Lightning Round!

Favorite snack? Popcorn

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go? To see the northern lights.

Favorite animal? Lizards

We are thrilled to welcome Kylina to the team and are excited to see all she will achieve during her apprenticeship here at Boom Box Post.

If you or someone you know has a passion for audio post production and is interested in learning more about audio post for animation, please consider applying for an apprenticeship with us! We are always looking for new applicants.
