If you live in California and work in the entertainment industry, you have almost certainly noticed a precipitous decrease in film and television projects seeking staff over the last few years. You have probably even been out of work for some or all of that time. Multiple factors are contributing to fewer projects getting greenlit than we have seen in decades. Artificial intelligence use has recently become top of mind for many of us, especially those of us in creative industries like sound and music. So, I wasn’t completely surprised when Soundgirls invited me to take part in an panel at their upcoming virtual conference regarding AI in the sound industry. I had an intensely fun and engaging first conversation with the other panelists, each of whom are in different areas of the sound industry, where we shared our personal hopes and fears. But it occurred to me that I would love to hear what your thoughts are on AI.

Filmmaker U is a website that creates courses for film professionals to deepen and diversify their skillsets. So, as a huge proponent of being a lifelong learner, I was very excited to add the topic of animation sound to that knowledge base for their audience!
