A COLLABORATIVE POST

WRITTEN BY BOOM BOX POST

We are so proud of our clients who have been nominated for an Annie Award! The Annie Awards honors the excellence in the field of animation, and we are quite proud to be a part of that. While a number of the people we know and work with received Annie nominations this year, four productions for which we provide post-production sound were nominated in their applicable “Best” category, and we are proud to highlight them here. See all of the Annie Awards Nominee’s here.

We asked our editors what their favorite part about working on these show were. Check out the answers below!

The unique animation style begged for unique sound design which is always a fun challenge. I love the toony nature and the 3D animation style is unlike any others I’ve seen!
— Vivian Williams, Sound Editor Ghee Happy
I enjoyed the bringing another culture into the mainstream media in an educational way. It’s always great to learn about a culture in a fun engaging way for kids.
— Carol Ma, Foley Editor on Ghee Happy
My favorite part of Winnie the Pooh was designing all of the fun imaginary elements to help bring them to life. The hand drawn sequences combined real drawing and illustrative cartoon sound effects with fun magical elements to show their ideas forming.
— Katie Jackson, Sound Editor on Playdate With Winnie the Pooh
Winnie is a really special show to me as it was my first show as an up and coming foley editor. It is super cool to see it get recognition like this!
— Kylina Aliotti, Foley Editor on Playdate With Winnie the Pooh
The best part of working on Invincible: Atom Eve is watching Atom Eve not only discovering her powers, but discovering who she is as a person along the way. It was so much fun highlighting Atom Eve’s growth with our sound design, showing that not only is she maturing, but the sound palette that surrounds her grows as well.
— Brad Meyer, Supervising Sound Editor on Invincible: Atom Eve
This show was one of the first adult animations I worked on at Boom Box, and I really loved it! The voice actor for Eve was exceptional, and I particularly appreciated the attention to detail in her dialogue, especially during the fight scenes, as every single effort and impact was acted out.
— Logan Romjue, Dialogue Editor on Invincible: Atom Eve
There are two main key points to the creative sound direction of StoryBots: Answer Time. First, the world in which the StoryBots live is sort of held up by duct-tape. Everything is slightly DIY and somewhat falling apart, so we made sure to add some clunkiness to all of the servos and tubing systems. I love that there is so much variety in each episode of Answer Time. Each episode has mini shorts throughout so we get to have fun designing and mixing for several different styles all in one episode.
— Tess Fournier, Supervising Sound Editor on StoryBots: Answer Time

Congratulations to everyone who was nominated and good luck!
