A collaborative post

Every productive day starts with the right mindset—and the right snacks. Long days of editing, mixing, and sound designing can’t run on caffeine alone! From our daily essentials to weekly rituals, our snacks play an instrumental role in keeping spirits high and creativity flowing. Here’s a peek at the snack lineup that powers the Boom Box team through long mixes, heavy editorial and the occasional plugin crash.

The Session starters

Coffee: Boom Box runs on Dunkin’…  We love the medium roast original blend from Dunkin’. To any coffee purists rolling their eyes: for how much coffee we drink, it’s cost effective and surprisingly tasty! Before we even load up a Pro Tools session we must have our coffee. We actually experienced a potentially traumatizing companywide emergency recently when I arrived to find our coffee maker wouldn’t turn on. But it took all of 30 minutes before a brand new coffeemaker was in the building and up and running: it’s that important to our team.

Tea: Okay so not all of Boom Box runs on Dunkin’. We also love the tea bags from Stash Tea. From fruity and herbal to black and holiday spiced, we have a literal rainbow of tea selections to choose from. Some of our editors like to mix it up daily, others simply cannot work without their go-to. When the weather is especially hot, we’ll brew a batch of iced tea to cool off.

The Daily Drivers

Beverage of Choice:
Our fridge stays fully stocked with La Croix and we’re always on the hunt for the newest, most exotic flavor offerings. A recent addition has been the “Sunshine” flavor.  With Sunflower imagery on the can, the flavor is a complete mystery to us…but the most important thing is that it provides the carbonated hydration our team craves throughout the day.

The Raw Takes: Our fruit bowl is always loaded with Apples and Bananas for those that need to supplement their breakfast. Some of our editors will get creative and combine these with peanut butter or something from home for a fulfilling afternoon snack.

Salty lineup: Santa Fe Snack Mix, Wild West Snack Mix and Peanut Butter Pretzels.

Sweet lineup: Dark Chocolate Almonds, Albanese Gummy Bears and M&Ms.
Salty or sweet? We’ve got our team covered with these household staples. Throughout the day, you’ll likely hear a pitter-patter tinkling sound emanating from the kitchen of bowls being filled with these essential snacks. I personally like to reenergize in the afternoon with a mix of salty AND sweet.

Movie Theater Popcorn: Made fresh everyday before 3pm, Boom Box  simply wouldn’t be the same without our daily popcorn. Our editors and mixers each have their own flavoring preferences. Most reach for the ballpark style seasoning, but we offer flavors of garlic parmesan to bacon cheddar for the more adventurous.
PRO SNACK TIP: Vivian Williams’ infamous chocolate chip popcorn. She adds a hefty handful of chocolate chips to her bowl and melts it all together in the microwave.

The Lunchtime Favorite: Tim’s Cascade Style Potato Chips. Not much to say here — available throughout the day but you’ll likely find them flying off the shelf at lunchtime as these chips perfectly compliment any sandwich, soup or salad.

The Weekly Specials: Rituals We Never Skip

Bagel Tuesdays - Noah’s Bagels
With an assorted bakers dozen from Noah’s every Tuesday morning, “Bagel Tuesday” has solidified itself as a favorite Boom Box tradition. More than a savory treat, it’s become a social time for us. With a myriad of cream cheeses, peanut butter or hummus (don’t knock it until you try it), our team gets creative with their flavor combinations. Of the many things I’ve learned in my time here at Boom Box, one I’ll never forget is how to make the
PRO SNACK TIP: Tim Vindigni’s signature toasted blueberry bagel topped with peanut butter and banana slices — a nutritious snack that can work as lunch in a pinch.

Cookie Fridays - Nestle Chocolate Chip cookies
All hell would break loose at Boom Box without cookie Friday! Kidding, but our editors DO rely on this treat every Friday. As with Bagel Tuesday, Cookie Friday is a morale-boosting social time for us to celebrate a hard fought week. On the first Fridays of every month we provide the addition of numerous ice cream offerings (non-dairy too).
PRO SNACK TIP: Tess Fournier’s cookie Friday affogato. Float a scoop or two of ice cream in a cup of coffee to pair with your chocolate chip cookie — delicious.

Birthday Donuts - You can certainly expect a sugary treat of choice for the birthday girl or guy. We love to use this time as an excuse to get together in the kitchen area and chat while we enjoy donuts, cookies or cupcakes in celebration of our team member.

Favorite Snacks / Beverages of our team?

I like the guava La Croix! Fav snack... the client snacks during a mix. LOLOL jk don’t say that!
— Tess Fournier, Supervising Sound Editor
Top 3: Bagels first I’d say. Then popcorn, then the gummy bears.
— Logan Romjue, Dialogue Editor
These days it’s gotta be the peanut butter pretzels.
— Jacob Cook, Re-recording Mixer
Bagel Tuesday for sure. Next would be the Dove chocolates on the mix stage. Screw the gummy bears that everyone loves (that’s right, I said it!)
— Brad Meyer, Supervising Sound Editor
Favorite La Croix flavor is the Limoncello one!
— Katie Jackson, Sound Effects Editor
Trail mix with some support from the chocolate covered almonds
— Kyle Stockbridge, Office Manager
Most often I’ll go for a bowl of peanut butter pretzels mixed with chocolate covered almonds. Two pretzels and one almond per bite for the ideal ratio.
— James Yaiullo, Sound Effects Editor
The trail mix hands down.
— Jayson Niner, Editor & Pre-dub Mixer
My favorite snack is the popcorn but it has to be slightly stale. One day old is perfect.
— Tim Vindigni, Studio Engineer

At Boom Box Post, we know that great work thrives on a balance of focus, creativity, and comfort. Sure, you could argue it’s the years of experience, the state of the art facility or the vast sound effects library that contributes to our success. But deep down our team knows it’s also the endless coffee, bagel chats and perfectly timed popcorn break. These snacks may seem like small details, but they play a big role in keeping our team energized, connected, and ready for whatever the session demands.
