AN INTERVIEW WITH SUNNI WALKER
SOUND EFFECTS EDITOR, BOOM BOX POST
Sound effects editor Sunni Walker is a new addition to the Boom Box Post team. Sunni grew up in the bay area, graduated from LA Recording School, and funnels his passion for action and superhero films into his work on our shows.
WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?
I grew up in the Bay Area, mainly Oakland and Hayward.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CHOOSE POST-PRODUCTION SOUND AS A CAREER?
I've pretty much been into movies ever since I was a little kid. I went to school for music and ended up doing post production sound for the first time, and just stuck with it. My favorite movies are action and sci-fi, one of my top is probably The Fifth Element.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT IN JOINING THE BOOM BOX TEAM?
This is the first time I've ever worked on a tv show, so yeah, thats pretty amazing!
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORK?
Movies, video games, books, everything nerdy, if possible, and food.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SOUND TO EXPERIENCE IN REAL LIFE?
My favorite is race car sounds! I went to Long Beach Grand Prix and they were jumping monster trucks, it was insane! Theres nothing else like it, I remember watching The Incredibles the first time, and remember hearing the craft the goons fly, and that was that sound. It was awesome!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SOUND EFFECT?
Probably explosions, those are always fun.
WHAT IS THE STRANGEST THING THAT YOU ACTUALLY LIKE THE SOUND OF?
Mud squishes. They just sound weird, they sound like exactly what they look like.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ANIMATED MOVIE?
Oooh, thats a hard one. I think it's between The Lion King and The Dark Knight returns. The Lion King, I've watched like a million times, my dad was just telling me how i used to make him watch it all of the time!
WHAT IS THE LAST BOOK YOU READ?
The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho.
IF YOU HAD TO CHOOSE TO WAKE UP TO ONE OF THESE AS YOUR ALARM CLOCK SOUND FOR THE REST OF THE LIFE, WHICH WOULD YOU PREFER: A CHIMPANZEE SCREAM OR A KLAXON ALARM?
A Klaxon! its just so classic!
IF BOOM BOX POST WERE A COLOR, WHICH COLOR WOULD IT BE?
Definitely blue, everything is blure and gray here.
